Biography

Dr. Jin Zhang is a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University. He earned his PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2003. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a NSERC Industrial Fellowship at the National Research Council Canada and a NSERC PDF in Molecular & Cellular Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Zhang's research focuses on the design, processing, and characterization of multifunctional nanocomposites for applications in environmental sustainability and public health. His laboratory, the Laboratory for Multifunctional Nanocomposites (LMN), works on developing advanced nanomaterials and has identified key research directions in multifunctional nanocomposites, theranostics, protein chemical sensors, spintronics, and non-invasive detection methods. Over the years, Dr. Zhang has received numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Mid-Career Achievement Award from NanoOntario and the Early Researcher Award from Ontario. He is actively involved in the academic community as an editorial board member and has contributed keynote addresses at major conferences.
