Biography

Jinchao Gu is a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash University in the Department of Neuroscience, focusing on creating in vitro neuronal cell models derived from human pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to study neurological disorders, particularly epilepsy. He completed his PhD at Swinburne University of Technology in February 2023, where he investigated GABAA receptors in differentiated neurons. His research expertise includes molecular cloning, rapid neural differentiation of hiPSCs, and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, enabling disease modeling of specific genetic mutations and screening potential anti-seizure drugs. Jinchao has worked on various projects, including precision gene silencing of Homer1R297W transcripts and the pre-clinical evaluation of selective adenosine A1 receptor positive allosteric modulators for treating drug-resistant epilepsy. He has a strong commitment to addressing UN Sustainable Development Goals through his research efforts.
