Biography

Jing Yu is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington. Previously, they completed their postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan. In spring 2025, they will join the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow. Jing received their Ph.D. in Control and Dynamical Systems from Caltech in 2024. Their research interests broadly encompass the interplay between control theory and machine learning, with a focus on online decision-making and distributed algorithms for large-scale sustainable energy systems. In recognition of their contributions, they were named an Amazon AI4Science Fellow in 2023 and received the Paper Finalist Award at the ACM e-Energy Conference in 2022, along with the Caltech Amori Doctoral Prize in 2024.
