Biography

Dr. Jing Camille Zhao is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2022 from the Advanced Water Management Centre at the University of Queensland. Prior to her current role at UNSW, Dr. Zhao was a research fellow at the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on sustainable mining, biohydrometallurgy, microbiology, and biotechnology, emphasizing the leverage of microbial processes to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the mining industry. Dr. Zhao has extensive industry experience, including areas such as sustainable mining and biological wastewater treatment processes. She is dedicated to advancing technologies that drive innovation toward a sustainable future, and her work has been featured in leading journals, including Environmental Science & Technology, Nature Communications, and Water Research. Dr. Zhao is also available to supervise Ph.D. and M.Phil. students.
