Biography

Jingwen Hu is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Wayne State University (2007) and has a strong background in Automotive Engineering, earning both his MS and BS degrees from Tsinghua University in 2003 and 2000, respectively. Over his career, Hu has received significant research funding, totaling more than $13 million across more than 90 projects from various government and industry funding agencies. He has authored around 150 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers and has been the recipient of multiple awards, including the Honored Instructor Award and the College of Engineering Departmental Faculty Award at the University of Michigan. Hu currently serves as an Associate Editor for several esteemed journals, such as Traffic Injury Prevention and Frontiers in Public Health, and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Stapp Association, an organization dedicated to impact biomechanics. His research primarily focuses on injury biomechanics and the development of parametric models to improve vehicle safety, engaging in collaborations with industry and government partners to translate these innovations into effective health technologies.
