Biography

Jingxian Wang received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Nottingham in 2023. Her research primarily focuses on China's marginalized children, particularly those from “illegal” populations that emerged as a result of the violation of the one-child policy. Her work critically examines the role of intra-family injustice, cooperation, family hegemony, and state power, exploring what constitutes human worth in a societal context and how children are deemed “valuable” to families. Her research interests include Sociology, childhood studies, family injustice, gender-based violence, citizenship studies among marginalized populations, and philosophy concerning identity, belonging, and recognition.
