Dr. Jiyeon Kim

Biography

Jiyeon Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology with a joint appointment in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale School of Medicine. Jiyeon received her PhD in Molecular Cancer Biology from Duke University, where she conducted her research under Dr. Sally Kornbluth. Following her doctoral studies, she completed postdoctoral training at UT-Southwestern Medical Center under Dr. Ralph DeBerardinis. Her research focuses on understanding the metabolic alterations that elicit dependencies and liabilities in signaling pathways, targeting metabolic pathways to exploit the Achilles' heel of cancer. Jiyeon's lab actively applies metabolic flux analysis to cancer cell lines with mutations, aiming to understand the breadth of metabolic diversity in cancer. This research is complemented by in vivo analyses of cancer metabolism in mice, with translational efforts designed to exploit the unique metabolic idiosyncrasies of tumor cells. Over the years, Jiyeon has accrued over 31 publications and garnered significant recognition in her field.
