Biography

Jo Barnes is a Professor at the University of the West of England, Bristol, specializing in Clean Air and serving as the Co-Director of the Centre for Environment, Society and Resilience. With over 20 years of research experience, she has focused on air quality management and policy practices at local, national, and international levels. Since joining UWE in 2008, Jo completed her PhD researching the effectiveness of Local Air Quality Management. Jo has also substantially contributed to the redesign of the UK's air quality monitoring network and has advised on several government initiatives. She runs Masters-level modules at UWE and has been involved in multiple interdisciplinary teaching efforts including GIS. Additionally, Jo has served in leadership roles within professional organizations, contributing to the advancement of environmental chemistry and air quality management education.
