Biography

Jo Marie Reilly, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Clinical Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She serves as the Director of the Primary Care Initiative and an Associate Director of the Clinical Medicine Course. Dr. Reilly graduated from Georgetown Medical School and completed her residency in family medicine at the Kaiser Permanente Family Residency Program in Los Angeles. She has spent 13 years in faculty roles at the same institution and has also served as the immediate past Chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians' Education Commission. Her scholarly interests and publications focus on innovations in student and resident education, the primary care pipeline, physician well-being, and care for underserved populations, with a particular focus on women's and children's health care through the lens of arts and humanities. Dr. Reilly has received several awards for her contributions, including the 2016 Program Excellence Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Keck School of Medicine in 2016. Her research interests also explore community health education and innovative curricular approaches in medical training, integrating narrative medicine and local cultural contexts into family medicine education.
