Biography

Joachim Hermsdörfer is a Full Professor and Chair of Human Movement Science at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) within the Department of Sport and Health Sciences. He has a PhD from the Institute of Medical Psychology at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, which he obtained in 1993. His research centers on understanding the rules and laws governing human movement and its associated neural mechanisms. He studies healthy young and elderly individuals, as well as athletes and individuals with damage to the central nervous system. His work employs various methods to capture and analyze movements and forces, as well as to measure and stimulate brain activity. Hermsdörfer is also involved in developing new approaches for neurorehabilitation and has headed a research group focused on sensorimotor disturbances within the Clinical Neuropsychology Research Group at Hospital München-Bogenhausen.
