Biography

Joan Baaijens studied Sociology with a focus on Methodology and Organization Theory at Tilburg University from 1972 to 1978. He began his professional career at the Institute of Applied Research in Work and Organization Issues where he worked from 1977 to 1989. In 1988, he completed his PhD thesis titled 'Policy Networks in Action'. Following this, he worked as a consultant specializing in business and ICT at Unisys Nederland NV from 1989 to 1991. He then served as an Associate Professor in Organization Studies and Methodology at the University of Amsterdam from 1991 until 2001. After that, he transitioned into consultancy roles in digital technology at CMG/Logica, Ordina Nederland, and CGI Nederland between 2001 and 2016. In 2016, he became a Senior Research Fellow at Tilburg University, focusing on Organization Studies. Additionally, he has been involved in external supervision of PhD students and teaching extended master students in Organization Studies. He collaborates with the KNVI's Standing Workgroup on Research Education and has presented a book on outsourcing contracts in 2017.
