Dr. Joan Feigenbaum

Biography

Joan Feigenbaum is the Grace Murray Hopper Professor of Computer Science at Yale University, where she has been a faculty member since 2000. She completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University and her B.A. in Mathematics at Harvard University. Previously, she worked at AT&T's Information Sciences Research Center at the Shannon Laboratory in New Jersey, where she established a research group focusing on algorithmics for massive data sets. Feigenbaum's academic contributions are significant, particularly in the areas of network security, algorithm design, and data privacy. She has published numerous papers on topics including lawful surveillance protocols, formal models of accountability, and mechanisms for lowest-cost routing in distributed systems. Feigenbaum is a recognized leader in her field, having been awarded fellow status by multiple scientific organizations and serving in various prestigious capacities within the academic community.
