Joan Lubin's research and teaching focus on modern and contemporary American literature, media, culture, queer and trans theory, history of science, sociology of literature, and book history. She has contributed to numerous journals and books, including work in 'Social Text' and 'American Literary History.' Previously, she served as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Science & Literature Society at Cornell University and was an Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Literature at Durham University in the UK. Lubin holds a B.A. in Women's Studies from UCLA and received her Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
