Biography

Joana F Neves is a Reader in Mucosal Immunology and group leader at King’s College London. She completed her PhD in developmental immunology at Queen Mary University of London, later moving to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School to study immunological responses in colitis. Joana joined King’s College London in 2014 with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship and has since established her research group. Her work has been funded by the Wellcome Institute, UKRI, MRC, EPSRC, NC3R, BBSRC, and the Royal Society. The Neves lab focuses on understanding the immune response in the gut and has developed complex intestinal organoid systems to study immune-epithelial interactions in health and disease. Joana’s research aims to discover new roles for Innate Lymphoid Cells (ILC) in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and has led to several important publications in high-impact journals.
