Professor Dr. Joanie Jean

Biography

Joanie Jean is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She serves as the Director of the Predoctoral Pediatric Dentistry Program. Dr. Jean earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Japanese Language, Literature, and Culture from Swarthmore College in 2011. She received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2019. Following her D.M.D., she completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Connecticut and Connecticut Children's Medical Center in 2021. In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Dr. Jean treats pediatric patients at the Penn Dental Family Practice located on Locust Walk. Prior to her appointment at Penn Dental Medicine, she worked in private practice, gaining extensive experience in treating children and adolescents.
