Dr. Joanna D Afflitti

Biography

Joanna D'Afflitti, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine specializing in General Internal Medicine. She completed her medical education with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in 2007 and obtained her Master of Public Health from Columbia University School of Public Health in 2001. Following her education, she completed the General Internal Medicine Residency Program at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in 2010. D'Afflitti has served as a Primary Care Physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital Chelsea Healthcare Center from 2010 to 2014, after which she took on the role of Associate Medical Director for Primary Care Quality Innovation at Boston Medical Center until 2018, and became the Medical Director for the Office-Based Addiction Treatment program. Her professional interests include caring for vulnerable patient populations, Addiction Medicine, primary care practice transformation, and the integration of behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment into primary care.
