Biography

Joanna Langille is an Assistant Professor at Western University, Faculty of Law, and an Honorary Senior Fellow at Melbourne Law School. Joanna holds an Hons BA from the University of Toronto, an MPhil from Oxford University, a JD from New York University, and a SJD from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on private international law, international trade law, private law, and legal theory. She has been published in leading journals including the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies and the American Journal of International Law. Joanna has received numerous awards including the Marilyn Robinson Award for Excellence in Teaching from Western University in 2023. As a Trudeau Scholar and SSHRC Bombardier Scholar, she completed her doctorate at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law. Joanna has also served as a Furman Fellow and a Researcher at renowned institutions such as Yale Law School and the University of Groningen. She has contributed to significant conferences, especially in private law theory, and co-chairs the International Economic Law Interest Group of the American Society of International Law.
