Biography

Joanna V. MacLean, MD, is an associate professor and attending psychiatrist at the Women’s Behavioral Medicine, Women’s Medicine Collaborative in the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her medical degree at the Alpert Medical School and her residency in adult psychiatry at Cambridge Hospital, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Dr. MacLean served as chief resident at Cambridge Hospital and participated in a longitudinal elective at Massachusetts General Hospital's Center for Women's Mental Health in Boston. Her clinical interests focus on psychiatric issues unique to women, including mood and anxiety disorders particularly associated with the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum period, and menopause. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and a recipient of the Isaac Ray Award in Psychiatry and the Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award.
