Biography

Joanna Page is a Professor at the Centre of Latin American Studies at the University of Cambridge. Her research primarily focuses on relationship science, culture, and the media in Latin America, encompassing a diverse range of disciplines including literature, film, graphic fiction, and visual arts, with particular emphasis on Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. Page's interests delve into themes of memory, modernity, capitalism, posthumanism, and environmental thought within the Latin American context. She has published extensively, including major works such as 'Crisis Capitalism and Contemporary Argentine Cinema,' which examines the significant boom in Argentine filmmaking since the mid-1990s, particularly concerning neo-liberalism and its socio-economic implications. Her other notable publications address the intersections of science and literature, the evolution of Argentine science fiction, and the role of graphic novels in exploring contemporary subjectivity. Throughout her academic career, Page has taught at various levels, including supervising MPhil and PhD projects in Latin American studies.
