Biography

Joanne Hackett is an accredited textile conservator with 25 years of experience in the museum sector across the UK and USA. She has worked with renowned organizations including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Joanne has extensive experience in delivering fashion exhibitions and has served as the lead conservator for notable exhibitions such as 'Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion', 'Shoes: Pleasure and Pain', and 'Club Catwalk: London Fashion 1980s'. She is a fellow of the International Institute of Conservation and the American Institute for Conservation, and a member of the Scientific Committee for the Bayeux Tapestry. Additionally, she is an associate editor for the journal 'Studies in Conservation' published by the International Institute of Conservation. Currently, she chairs the ICON textile conservation group and is part of the Kelvin Centre for Conservation and Cultural Heritage Research at the University of Glasgow.
