Biography

Joanne 'Jody' Minnick is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, University of California, Davis. She specializes in family nurse practitioner training within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) - Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Minnick's clinical practice focuses on the care of the elderly, dementia, and encompasses both civilian and military emergency medicine. She is dual-board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). Her clinical interests include DNP project development, neurosurgery, geriatrics, and flight medicine. She has previously taught multiple doctoral level courses related to epidemiology, community health, and statistics, along with Master of Science in Nursing courses such as health assessment and pharmacology. Before joining UC Davis, she taught at Walden University and the University of the Incarnate Word. She holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from San Antonio College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, a Master of Science in Nursing from UT Health San Antonio, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama. Minnick is a founding member of the Enroute Care Research Center at Brooke Army Medical Center and has published work related to her experience as a flight nurse during Hurricane Katrina.
