Biography

Joanne Sheu, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. She is passionate about education, patient empowerment, and healthcare mentorship for residents and medical students. Her clinical practice focuses on patient-centered gynecologic care for women of all ages, providing both medical and surgical management for a comprehensive range of gynecologic issues, including abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception, fibroids, and pelvic pain. Dr. Sheu completed her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and holds a dual Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She finished her residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and earned her Master’s in Public Health in Biostatistics at the same institution. Dr. Sheu is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is also a Diplomate of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in clinical research, particularly concerning pre-invasive HPV disease of the lower genital tract.
