Dr. Joanne Sivertson

Biography

Joanne Sivertson, MD, FRCSC, is the Provincial Department Head and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan. She grew up in rural Saskatchewan and spent her undergraduate years at the University of Regina before attending medical school at the University of Saskatchewan. Following her education, she completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and began her practice in general obstetrics and gynecology in Prince Albert. Dr. Sivertson has a strong interest in improving healthcare systems and has demonstrated leadership capabilities, having spent nine years on the board of the Saskatchewan Medical Association, including four years in an executive position, and served as President from 2017 to 2018. She advocates for enhancements in surgical skills training for family physicians and focuses on care for women facing HIV and addiction issues. Her clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery and reproductive care.
