Biography

JoAnne Stubbe is a prominent researcher in the field of ribonucleotide reductases, which are essential enzymes that provide building blocks for DNA replication and repair. As the Novartis Professor of Chemistry Emeritus at MIT, she has led the Stubbe Group in investigating the mechanisms of ribonucleotide reductases (RNRs) that catalyze the conversion of nucleotides to deoxynucleotides. Her research encompasses a wide range of projects related to the radical propagation pathways utilized by Class I RNRs, the interactions between protein subunits of Class I RNRs, and the regulation of RNRs. Additionally, she examines the biosynthesis, activation, and regulation of the formation of essential metallo-cofactors in RNRs across species, including E. coli, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and humans. Dr. Stubbe is currently not accepting students for research mentorship.
