João Gomes da Silva graduated in Landscape Architecture from the Universidade de Évora in 1987 and served as a lecturer assistant professor from 1987 to 1994. He was appointed as an invited Associate Professor in the Architecture Department at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa in 2001. His extensive career includes invitations for lectures and participation in conferences and workshops focused on the theory and practice of Landscape Architecture. In 2015, he was an invited visiting professor at both Harvard Graduate School of Design and Cornell University. Since 2012, he has been teaching at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio and runs an atelier named Nunes Gomes in collaboration with João Nunes, where he focuses on theory courses. In 2022, he was nominated as an Adjunct Professor at Accademia. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage in Versailles and is an external member of its nomination committee. Additionally, he is part of the Institute of Urban Landscape Studies ISUP/IULS (AAM/USI) and has dedicated his professional life to the collaborative and critical production of Landscape Architecture, co-founding the firm Global Arquitectura Paisagista with Inês Norton in 1997.
