Biography

Born in Abarán, Spain, in 1978, Joaquin Carrasco Gomez received a B.S. degree in Physics and a Ph.D. in Control Engineering from the University of Murcia, Spain, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. His dissertation focused on Stability Reset Control Systems and was supervised by Professors Baños and Arenas, supported by the Government of Spain. He worked at the Institute of Measurement and Automatic Control at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany, from October 2009 to September 2010. In October 2010, he joined the Control Systems Group at the University of Manchester as a Research Associate, focusing on issues such as absolute stability and control design. He has also served as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Groningen and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His current research interests include teleoperation in robotics applications, control applications in power systems, and exploring theories around absolute stability and nonlinear control.
