Biography

Joash Gambarage is a sessional lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia (UBC). His teaching focuses on introductory courses in African languages, particularly the Swahili language. Joash completed his Ph.D. in linguistics at UBC in 2019. His research interests span across various themes, including syntax, semantics, the interplay between syntax and semantics, applied linguistics, and language documentation. Joash acknowledges the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Syilx Okanagan Nation peoples on which UBC’s campuses are situated.
