Dr. Jochen Koenemann

Biography

Jochen Koenemann is a Professor and the Chair of the Department of Combinatorics & Optimization at the University of Waterloo. He holds a PhD in Algorithms, Combinatorics & Optimization from Carnegie Mellon University, obtained in 2003, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at La Sapienza University of Rome from 2003 to 2004. His research specializes in Approximation Algorithms, Algorithmic Game Theory, and Combinatorial Optimization. Throughout his career, Jochen has contributed to various important conferences and has been active in the academic community, serving on program committees for prestigious conferences. His work includes a variety of publications, focusing on key areas such as stable matchings, nucleolus computation, and approximating weighted tree augmentations. Jochen has also taught courses on combinatorial optimization, game theory, and network flows, contributing to the development of these fields. He is well-recognized for his expertise and ongoing contributions to algorithmic research, providing mentorship to students and collaborating with colleagues to advance knowledge in these areas.
