Jochen Lang received his M.Sc. in Computer Science from York University, Toronto, in 1996, and his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, in 2001. He holds a B.Eng. With industrial experience in real-time systems, system verification, and computer vision gained in Canada and Germany, he worked as a researcher at the Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik in Saarbrücken, Germany, from 2002 to 2004 before joining the University of Ottawa in September 2004. His research focuses on measurement-based modeling in visual computing, combining techniques from computer graphics and computer vision. He is responsible for deformable model acquisition in the IRIS NCE funded project "Reality-based Modeling and Simulation of Physical Systems in Virtual Environments." His work has also been partly funded by the European Union project "Virtual Heritage: High Quality Acquisition and Presentation." He has published extensively in the areas of computer graphics, robotics, and computer vision.
