Biography

Dr. Jody Haigh is a highly accomplished researcher and professor in the field of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba. He completed his undergraduate degree in Life Sciences and a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Queen’s University, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry at the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna, Austria. After spending four years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, he held a position as an assistant professor at Ghent University in Belgium, where he ran his own research group. Following his recruitment to the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases at Monash University in Melbourne, he returned to Canada in 2018 as an associate professor in the Max Rady College of Medicine, where he established a research group at the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba. His research focuses on leukemia, particularly the role of ZEB transcription factors in blood cell development and their misexpression leading to leukemic transformations, employing innovative mouse models and humanized mice for his investigations.
