Biography

Jody Jensen is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Psychology and is a member of the Institute of Neuroscience. His research focuses primarily on developmental motor control, motor development biomechanics, and the connections between movement experience and cognition. Jensen's early work included investigating posture and locomotion to understand age-related changes in motor competence, leading to innovations in rehabilitation strategies for lower extremity function. His later research has targeted learning patterns in physical activity, especially among children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders. He is a co-founder of the Autism Project (TAP) at the University of Texas.
