Biography

Joe Altin has significant expertise in tumour immunology and liposome targeting. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Graduate Diploma in Science from Australian National University in 1985, followed by a PhD in 1988. His post-doctoral work was conducted at the University of California, Irvine from 1988 to 1990. He returned to Australia to take up a Research Fellowship at the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR) at ANU. In 1997, he established a research laboratory within the Division of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Science at ANU, which notably received NHMRC commercial funding. His research primarily focuses on developing patented technologies aimed at creating stealth liposomes and targeted nanoparticles as delivery vehicles for antigens and nucleic acids, as well as innovating effective liposomal vaccines for cancer immunotherapies.
