Dr. Joe Mazur

Biography

Joe Mazur is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Daniels School of Business at Purdue University. He teaches courses in Management Information Systems and Economic Analysis Technology Markets. His research focuses on industrial organization, combining game theoretic models with real-world data to draw policy-relevant conclusions about firm behavior and its impacts on social welfare. The U.S. airline industry serves as a primary source of data for his studies, with research covering topics such as antitrust, bankruptcy, price discrimination, and capital structure. Before receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University, he worked as a corporate financial analyst at an investment bank, specializing in industrial mergers and acquisitions. He has proposed new research that predicts post-merger airline behavior, highlighting how anticompetitive mergers can lead to higher ticket prices.
