Biography

Joe Nation is a Professor of Practice in Public Policy at Stanford University, where he co-directs graduate student Practicum in public policy and teaches various policy courses on critical issues such as climate change, health care, and California state-related matters. His current research is focused on carbon markets and how to improve data-driven decision-making processes for state governments. Nation has a significant history of consulting with RAND for over 30 years and has been an integral part of the collection and creation of socioeconomic statistical databases since 1997. He graduated from the Pardee RAND Graduate School in 1989. He is also a faculty affiliate of Stanford’s Center on Longevity and serves on the Economic Advisory Board of the Bay Area Council.
