Biography

Joseph Paul Nemargut studied retinal physiology during his PhD and postdoctoral studies in the US and Canada. He then obtained his Specialist in Orientation and Mobility (SOM) degree at the École d'Optométrie of the Université de Montréal. He is one of the few certified SOM professionals in the world conducting clinical research in this field. His current research projects primarily focus on the use of mobile technology, spatial learning of individuals with visual impairments, and the provision of visual rehabilitation services. Over the years, he has developed and integrated innovative approaches to enhance the independence and social participation of individuals with low vision. He also teaches SOM students during their Master's courses in visual rehabilitation and supervises them during their internships.
