Dr. Joe Wilcox

Biography

Joe Wilcox is an experienced higher education professional with 40 years in various roles, primarily focused on student affairs and enrollment management at the University of Texas at Austin. He has held significant positions including Vice President of Student Affairs and has overseen the department of Student Financial Services. Under his leadership, the endowment portfolio of the university expanded considerably, growing from 106 endowments worth $51 million to 250 endowments valued at $140 million. Joe has also been instrumental in administering approximately $500 million in federal, state, and institutional aid, positively impacting 8,000 students annually. His commitment to student support extends to his active involvement in recruiting underrepresented students and counseling families on college affordability. Joe has made numerous guest appearances on radio and television, advocating for financial aid programs. In 2018, he transitioned to a faculty position in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at UT Austin, where he shares his extensive experience with students. He is also recognized for his philanthropic work and has received multiple awards for his contributions in the field of higher education. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching softball, weightlifting, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is married with children.
