Biography

Joel Braun is an Associate Professor of Double Bass at the University of Texas at Austin. An accomplished orchestral musician, he has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. His performance highlights include participating in significant national and international tours, notably the historic trip of the New York Philharmonic to North Korea in 2008, under the direction of Lorin Maazel. Additionally, he is a recognized pedagogue, having presented masterclasses at various esteemed institutions and held faculty positions at several universities, including Ball State University and the Juilliard School Pre-College Division.
