Biography

Joel Lanovaz is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean Academic at the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University. His research interests include Biomechanics, Motor Control, Neuromuscular Adaptations, and Bone Health. His work emphasizes human performance, the management of chronic conditions, and promoting healthy aging. Currently, he co-directs the Biomechanics Balance Movement Lab, investigating various aspects of motor control and physical performance in diverse populations, including children with cerebral palsy and older adults. Additionally, Lanovaz is involved in projects on spinal cord injury recovery and the development of computational models for musculoskeletal loading. He offers courses in Biomechanics, helping to prepare the next generation of kinesiology professionals.
