Biography

Joel McCullough is an architect, educator, and researcher based in Pennsylvania, dedicated to redefining strangeness and delight in everyday life through his practice, JMcC Office. He is a registered architect in both Pennsylvania and New York and has extensive experience as a Project Architect at MOS in New York City, where he led a variety of projects across different scales, including furniture, exhibitions, housing, and art space renovations. Joel earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with honors, and holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University GSAPP, where he received the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize for design excellence and the William Kinne Fellows Traveling Prize. He has also taught at Columbia GSAPP and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), participated in various architecture panels, and served as a guest critic at notable institutions such as Syracuse University and Carnegie Mellon. His work has been exhibited at the 2022 Tallinn Architecture Biennale, showcasing his contributions to architecture and design education.
