Biography

Joelle E. Polesky is a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a counsel at Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP. She has a broad experience in civil litigation with a focus on corporate and commercial litigation. Joelle has appeared in major courts in Delaware and possesses extensive knowledge of practice procedures in the Supreme Court, Chancery, and Superior Court of Delaware. Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, she spent several years in public service as a deputy attorney general for the Delaware Department of Justice, handling civil and criminal fraud matters, and litigation related to a multibillion-dollar trust impacting access to quality healthcare in Delaware, as well as litigation concerning major ratings agencies' representations of ratings accuracy during the 2008 financial crisis. Joelle has also investigated and prosecuted complaints against attorneys for violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Before her public service, she was a partner at a Wilmington-based law firm, where she concentrated on corporate litigation, advancement of books and records actions, fiduciary duty, shareholder derivative matters, and alternative entity disputes. Joelle began her career as a clerk for Hon. Roderick R. McKelvie in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. She received her B.S. magna cum laude from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and her J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where she also served as an editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.
