Biography

Dr. Khoury is an experienced pulmonary medicine specialist. He earned his M.D. from the Technion School of Medicine in Israel and completed his internship and residency at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel. After that, he undertook a clinical fellowship in pulmonary diseases at Carmel Medical Center. Dr. Khoury has served as a senior physician at Carmel Medical Center, where he established a post-COVID clinic in northern Israel and built the pulmonary division at EMMS Nazareth Hospital. Since May 2021, he has been working as a postdoctoral fellow at Yale School of Medicine in Dr. Kaminski's lab, where he studies novel pathways involved in the development of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Notably, during his fellowship, he discovered the role of G-protein coupled receptor 87 (GPR87) in pulmonary fibrosis development, for which he has received several awards, including the Department of Defense (DoD) Discovery Award and the Boehringer Ingelheim Discovery Award. Currently, Dr. Khoury is focused on inhibiting pro-fibrotic pathways, specifically targeting GPR87, to improve treatments for pulmonary fibrosis.
