Dr. Johan Magnusson

Biography

Johan Magnusson is a Professor at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in Information Systems. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Accounting) from Gothenburg University, obtained in 2012, and a Licentiate degree in Information Systems acquired in 2005. Johan has been actively involved in various management roles, including chairing departments and founding research centers as well as startups. His research primarily focuses on the governance of digital transformation in large organizations, especially in the public sector. Johan advocates for balancing efficiency and innovation within this governance framework, working closely with executives to enhance the digital capabilities of large organizations through his insights. He is also involved in programmatic research with a current emphasis on digital government, coordinating multiple projects aimed at increasing the value and impact of research findings. An active member of the industrial community, Johan also serves as a board member, and frequently delivers keynote speeches and engages with media to promote research utilization.
