Biography

Johan Andreas Nilsson Hed is a Professor at the University of Gothenburg in the Department of Psychology, specializing in Applied Psychology. His research primarily focuses on behavior change, public attitudes, and policy measures, employing psychological theories to address societal phenomena and issues, particularly concerning environmental challenges and health behaviors. He has been involved in various studies examining energy conservation, the behavioral dimensions of climate change, and attitudes towards policies such as congestion charges. Nilsson Hed completed his M.Sc. in Psychology at the University of Gothenburg in 2001 and earned his Ph.D. in 2007. He has held several academic positions, including Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor since 2019. His teaching encompasses social and environmental psychology, with responsibilities for both master's level courses and Ph.D. level methods training. His recent projects highlight the interplay of social norms and environmental policy acceptance.
