Johann Packendorff is a professor of Industrial Economics and Organization specializing in industrial project management. His research interests include leadership, entrepreneurship, organizational development, and project management, often studied from perspectives such as gender, identity creation, and social constructionism. His work has been published in journals including Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Organization, International Journal of Project Management, Project Management Journal, and Scandinavian Journal of Management. He is a member of five editorial committees for scholarly journals and has been a guest researcher/lecturer at several universities in the UK, France, Russia, and China. In 2017, he received the PMI Research Achievement Award for his contributions to project management research. Johann holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Umeå School of Business and Economics (USBE) and has led several externally funded research programs in his areas of expertise since joining KTH in 2001. He has also been responsible for Indek’s doctoral education and has been an examiner and course leader for the department's courses in industrial project management and production. Johann is a co-organizer of the recurring international research conferences Making Projects Critical (MPC) and is a regular member of the Swedish Project Academy, where he serves as the jury chair for the national thesis award and as a steering group member of the Academy's Trust Network. Previously, he has also served as a member of the Scientific Forum of the Entrepreneurship Forum and the faculty council of the Marie Cederschiöld University.
