Biography

Johanna Bossinade is a distinguished scholar in Modern German Literature, with extensive academic experience and accomplishments. She studied German Studies, Theater Studies, and General Literary Studies in Utrecht and Cologne. She earned her doctorate in 1984 and completed her habilitation in 1993. From 1990 to 1994, she held a temporary professorship at Free University of Berlin, focusing on the role of women in the literary process. She served as a visiting professor at the University of Hamburg from 1995 to 1997 and later became a part-time professor for Modern German Literature at Free University of Berlin from 1999 to 2002. Alongside her university career, Bossinade has been a practicing psychoanalyst since 2000, contributing to the field through fundamental writings related to psychoanalytic ethics and literary intersections. She has also organized significant academic conferences, such as the first scientific conference on the works and impact of Käte Hamburger in 2002. Her research encompasses the aesthetics and poetics of modern literature, focusing on German literature from the late 18th to the 20th century, literature theory, language, psychoanalysis, and literature. Throughout her career, she has produced numerous publications and has been actively engaged in delivering academic lectures and moderating discussions at various institutions both nationally and internationally.
