Dr. Johanna Carroll

Biography

Johanna Carroll is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. She serves as the Director of the MHSc Medical Genomics program and is dedicated to the teaching and development of genomic methods for understanding, diagnosing, and treating diseases. Johanna is passionate about helping students explore and pursue their professional interests to find fulfilling careers after graduation. She teaches and coordinates several courses, including Biostatistics, Genomic Methodologies, and Graduate Professional Development in the Medical Genomics program. In addition, she is the faculty coordinator for the capstone practicum that allows students in the Medical Genomics program to apply their skills in industry and academic placements. Before joining the University of Toronto, Johanna was a postdoctoral fellow at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from Hamilton College.
