Dr. Johanna Chamberlain

Biography

Johanna Chamberlain is an Associate Professor specializing in areas of Commercial Law and Tort Law at Uppsala University. She has a diverse educational background with studies in Spanish and Russian at St. Petersburg State University, University of Manchester, and the University of Uppsala. She completed her LL.B in February 2015 and has served in various academic roles including Amanuensis and Lecturer within the Faculty of Law at Uppsala University from 2012. Johanna pursued her doctoral studies in Private Law with a focus on Tort Law from 2015 to 2020, culminating in her Doctorate in Laws in October 2020. Following her doctoral work, she served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Commercial Law Sector at the Department of Business Studies until September 2023. In October 2023, she transitioned to the role of Senior Lecturer and teaches a range of courses including Tort Law, Information Law, and supervises Master's thesis projects. Her primary research interests include Tort Law, Personal Integrity, Data Protection, and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on accountability and risk regulation. She has received accolades including the Alumnistiftelsens essay prize for her master's thesis, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence and engagement in various educational committees.
