Biography

Johanna Miecznikowski-Fuenfschilling is an adjunct professor at the Università della Svizzera italiana, where she teaches courses in Linguistics and Pragmatics for Bachelor's and Master's programs in Italian language, literature, and culture. She holds degrees in Italian Philology, Russian Philology, and French Linguistics from the University of Basel, where she also completed her PhD in French Linguistics in 2002. Miecznikowski-Fuenfschilling has conducted research focused on modality, evidentiality, and argumentation within contemporary spoken and written Italian. She collaborated with the University of Turin to investigate the use of conditional mood and discourse markers in spoken language. Since 2007, she has been contributing to the academic community at USI, where she actively engages in research on multilingual speakers and interactive construction of scientific discourse in a multilingual environment. In 2010, she achieved her habilitation from the University of Basel, allowing her to further her academic career in teaching and research.
