Biography

Johannes Czernin received his MD degree from the University of Vienna in 1983 and is board certified in Internal Medicine (1989) and Nuclear Medicine (1996) in the USA. He was appointed Director of Nuclear Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 1996 and currently serves as Chief of the Ahmanson Translational Theranostics Division at UCLA. His Division encompasses the Nuclear Medicine Clinic, clinical imaging research programs, and drug probe development programs, significantly supporting tumor biology and preclinical imaging center. Dr. Czernin has more than 25 years of experience in preclinical molecular imaging and molecular radiotherapy and has published over 280 peer-reviewed research papers. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and has held the position of past president of the Academy of Molecular Imaging.
