Biography

John Ballam has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Bristol and is an accomplished author with collections of poems, six stage plays, four screenplays, and novels, including one that consists of 72 short stories. His best-known work is the memoir 'Road Harmony,' first published in 1999 and recently updated in 2013. He has been a member of the American Dramatists’ Guild Society, the Authors Alliance, and has worked with Resident Theatres in New York and the Playwrights’ Platform in Boston. In addition to his writing, he has served as a script consultant and screenwriter for major agencies and film producers in Hollywood, London, and Mumbai. Since 2004, Dr. Ballam has taught English Literature and Creative Writing at various colleges at the University of Oxford and has been the Course Director for the Undergraduate Diploma in Creative Writing since 2008. His teaching specializes in modern literature and the creative writing genres.
